Mission Statement

Providing an inclusive, student-centered experience; for the advancement of artistry, education, and professional growth.

Founded by Dr. Dennis Edlebrock, the National Trumpet Competition is a 501(c)3 organization that has been providing an educational outlet for young trumpet players from around the United States. With a yearly competition, masterclasses, and amazing concerts, NTC strives to provide the highest quality atmosphere to showcase these up-and-coming artists and provide access to some of the world's premiere trumpet artists and faculty from around the world.

Inaugurated in 1992, NTC has provided performing opportunities, master classes, exhibition concerts, historic and commercial exhibits, and an educational, supportive environment for over 3,000 students, representing more than 40 states as well as 6 foreign countries. Hundreds of Artist Faculty members coming from universities and symphony orchestras around the nation have donated their time and talents to judge these fine young players.

In addition to the competition, Guest Artists are chosen from among many of the trumpet world's greatest performers. NTC audiences have been inspired by performances of Canadian Brass, Grammy Award Winner Arturo Sandoval, Doc Severinsen, Maynard Ferguson, Phil Smith, Tim Morrison, Jens Lindemann, Allen Vizzutti, and a host of others, many of whom waive their considerable fees to support NTC.
